Ghanta
History behind:
Ghanta is an authentic dish from Odisha. Prepared using multiple vegetables and pulses.Which includes proteins and vitamins in one dish. Which normally prepared in after Duttiya puja or Dutibahana osha/brata after the vegetables and fruits offered to goddess with chanting of mantras in front of goddess.
Dutibahana osha specially observed on eighth day of Ashwina on dark fort night of lunar month according to Odia calendar by luckless women who are barren or those have still born child or those whose child died.Various fruit and vegetables are offered to them who credited with great miracles.

Ingredients for masala:
- Whole dhania
- Jeera
- Red Chili
- Tej patta
- Jaifal
- Jabitri
- Black pepper
- Dalchini
- Badi Elaichi
- Mathhi
Rules to prepare masala:
- Take whole dhania one tbs, jeera one tbs,two red chili, tejpatta, badi elaichi,black peper, elaichi, jaifal, jabiti, half roast all then add dalchini make powder keep it aside.
- Next roast methi strongly then prepare the powder keep it separately.
Rules to prepare the curry:
- Take three spoon oil in a pan then add tomato and ginger at a time saute continuously.
- Then add one tbs red chili powder,turmeric one spoon, salt as per taste saute for three minutes.
- Add each vegetable one by one and saute constantly.
- After 15min add half boiled chole, half boiled pea,chopped coconut,arhar dal,chana dal,gram sprout, boil them for 30mins.
- Add moong dal sprout at last then hand made masala one spoon and methi powder 1/2spn give it a stir.
- Add tadka and coriander leaves,garnish with vadi.
- Serve hot with rice,chapati or what ever you want.
This Ghanta is a dish which comprise of each and every vitamin and protein.You can add any vegetable with it and no doubt the taste will be better than your regular vegetable Sabji with a less amount oil & masala.
